Out Of The Saddle news – an Evening with the Downing Brothers Returns For a 5th Year on Saturday 2nd November at Hellaby Hall
Cycling brothers, Dean and Russell Downing, will once again be hosting “Out of the Saddle – An Evening with the Downing Brothers†on Saturday 2nd November 2013 at The Hellaby Hall Hotel in Sheffield/Rotherham.
Last year’s event saw the brothers joined by stars from the cycling scene, The Tour of Britain Winner Jon Tiernan-Locke, Team Sky Rider and one of OOTS top supporters Ben Swift, Rapha Condor Sharp Boss John Herety, with rider Kristian House and Olympic Champion Ed Clancy alongside many more. With family and many friends from the cycling community attending, the night was heartily enjoyed by all who attended.
Looking to build on the previous four editions, the night will once again feature a buffet, auction, disco and guest interviews conducted by The Tour Series and The Tour of Britain’s cycling crowd entertainer Joe fisher.
Dean and Russ have been speaking to several riders on the recent Tour of Britain, who are keen to attend the evening. Confirmed so far are Ben Swift for a record 4th year and Ian Stannard with more riders to come.
Russell has enjoyed another great year with Team Netapp Endura, completing the Monument Classics with both Tour of Flanders and Paris Roubaix, also becoming the British Criterium Champion for a third time. Older brother Dean has just finished what is said to be his last Tour of Britain, but has also had another successful year on the bike with Madison Genesis, winning The Beaumont Trophy and his home town Criterium at Sheffield Grand Prix.
This year the brothers have decided to support Hope for Justice, http://hopeforjustice.org.uk a charity raising awareness about Human Trafficking into the UK. Tom Lister a keen cyclist and friend of the Downing Brothers, (Tom also does a little bit of acting ) completed a charity bike ride this summer from Latvia to London with hope for justice CEO Ben Cooley.
Tickets have sold out.
Pre dinner ride
In its 5th year the Out of the Saddle charity evening with the Downing’s on 2nd November 2013 is now sold out.
But for those of you who can’t attend the evening, but are still wanting to show your support. There is the leisure ride on the morning of the dinner. Last years 64km route attracted around 80 riders, of all ages. This year will hopefully be the same number of people. We are going to go with the exact same route as we all enjoyed last year, which is a very nice flat 64km, no complaints there then.
Garden Room Restaurant in Braithwell is Out of the Saddle cycling clubs official clubhouse, where members meet each Saturday for a coffee and a cake before the weekly chaingang alongside Dean and Russ. Start time for the ride will be for a 10:30 leave. Returning to the Garden Room Restaurant between 12:30 and 13:30 o’clock for some well deserved coffee and cake.
This is a free ride with Dean and Russ with some possible special guests. All we ask is a kind donation to the charity we are supporting this year www.hopeforjustice.org.uk .
Looking forward to seeing you.
Please see the details below.
