On 27th April 2014, Always Aim High Events will be holding the first ever Gran Fondo Conwy in Wales.

PRESS RELEASE
The Gran Fondo Conwy is a cycle sportive that will start and finish at the gorgeous Conwy Castle. The sportive will take riders around some of the most beautiful views and locations Conwy and Denbighshire have to offer. The route runs along the glorious North Wales coastline, and in places follows some of the epic 2013 Stage 4 Tour of Britain course. The Gran Fondo is a non-competitive event making it perfect for cyclists of all abilities. Entries for the event are open now.
The Gran Fondo will have a choice of 4 routes in a similar style to the other popular and now established cycling events that Always Aim High Events organise – the Etape Eryri and Tour de Mon. There will be a 40 mile Bach route, a 75 mile Canol Route and a 103 mile Mawr route (please note, Always Aim High Events are still finalising the routes so all these distances are approximate). There will also be a completely free Gran Fondo Teulu family ride which will be around 6.5 miles.
As well as being a fantastic cycle event the Gran Fondo Conwy is set to be a day out for all the family. On the day the event village at Conwy Castle will come alive with live music, family entertainment and other attractions for everyone to enjoy.
Race organiser and Always AimHigh Events Manager, Rob Samuel is very excited about the new event and is looking forward to getting involved with the local community.
“The Gran Fondo Conwy is set to be a fantastic day out. The location of the event village at Conwy Castle is simply stunning and the views along route could not be more spectacular. Not only that, but we will be putting on the high quality event that people have come to expect from Always Aim High Events. Our Etape Eryri and Tour de Mon have both received a great deal of positive feedback and we intend to use what we have learnt from these events to make the Gran Fondo a great day to enjoy for riders, spectators and the local community alike.
We are also putting a lot of effort into making the Gran Fondo Conwy a real community event. Over the coming months we will be working extensively with local community groups along the route to generate both support for the sportive and to back local causes. Additionally, the Gran Fondo Conwy is a great opportunity to get local children into cycling. At the Tour de Mon over 150 children and parents took part in the family ride and we are hoping the Gran Fondo Teulu will be just as popular.
If you are looking for a friendly, spring cycle sportive in a beautiful location to give you something to train for over the winter then look no further than the Gran Fondo Conwy – it’s going to be fantastic!â€
