TEAM PRESS RELEASE
Having taken 5th place overall but in the U23 leaders jersey after Round One and then an amazing 3rd place in Round Two, Adam hit his ‘home’ round on a mission. Round Three of the National Trophy arrived at Durham on Sunday, a local venue for Adam being from ‘just up the road’ near Chester le Street.
Going into the event 4th overall and 2nd Under 23, Adam was gridded on the front row along with the other top riders. Good conditions saw the course hold up without becoming a mud bath for a change, which led to a very fast close fought race. Hargroves rider and U23 contender Steve James was first away from the gun with Hope’s Trophy leader Paul Oldham cleanly away too; however Adam was hot on their heels.
By the end of the 1st lap it was Adam out in front, stringing out the fast moving bunch and laying down his intention. Oldham looked in great shape taking the lead but 19 year old Adam looked strong, matching the pace of the more experienced Hope Pro.
After forty minutes, former National Mountain Bike Champion Oli Beckingsale had clawed his way up to Adam’s back wheel whilst Steve James led the rest through 20 secs back with U23 series leader Ben Sumner battling to keep his Green Jersey.
A loose shoe plate forced a couple of mistakes from Adam leaving Beckingsale to take advantage and ride through into 2nd place at the finish. At the chequered flag it was Oldham victorious by 23 secs from Beckingsale with Adam getting his second consecutive Senior podium in third just a further 14 secs back but more importantly Adam was now the First U23 rider from James and Sumner. Adam now sits third overall in the Senior Trophy standings and is the leading U23 rider, again wearing the Green Jersey.
Adam rides Kuota Kross carbon framesets with SRAM Red components, USE 3.0 Nano Tech carbon tubular wheels shod with Continental tubs, USE Summit bars and stem with Alien Seatposts; and wearing clothing by Pactimo. Adam is fuelled by High5, Beet-It Sport shots and Paddy & Scotts coffee.
