The North East major events calendar will this year again kick off with the Velo29 North East Trophy at the Croft Circuit – Darlington, 22nd Feb

The National C, E/1/2/3/4 handicapped 50 mile race always attracts a strong Elite field, drawn no doubt by the £700 prize fund. Previous years have always seen over 150 riders. The racing is competitive, Croft is flat and fast with the wind often playing a major decider in the outcome. We’ve had sprint finishes as well as small groups staying away, plus some valiant solo efforts. It’s always fast and exciting over the 25 laps.

There are primes, a professional commentator, good facilities at Croft and easy access from the A1. Riders usually travel from as far as the Scottish Midlands and North London! We also have a Youth Race delivered by the Stockton Wheelers, again it’s a well-attended event with the young riders enjoying the safe facilities of the reduced length 1KM circuit.

It’s a great day of racing to watch and take part in. Often cold but we’ve got hot refreshments to keep the spectators warm!
