The club has increased its profile on the South coast in the last few years but 2013 saw an increase in members and with it came success and trophies.

The club has a very strong junior membership and its beginning to reap the benefits of the hard work of the clubs coaches. Several young riders have stepped up this year and enjoyed the success that followed.

Brendan Drewett won many high profile junior road races in the south including the Prudential Ride London-Surrey Classic race which finished on the Mail in London. Joseph Andrews won the junior Wessex Cyclo Cross league and Caitlin Peters again proved she is the fastest girl in the south. Others competed in time trial across the region, a discipline the club does well at with wins for all across the age categories.

While the younger members of the club have been reaping in the success the older members have also been collecting stripy jerseys with Bob Oliver and Barrington Day winning National jerseys and the TLI National Championships.

The ‘Wheelers’ promote events in all disciplines throughout the year, including a mid week time trial series, hill climbs, a road race and a round of Cyclo cross for the Wessex League. The club also has a varied and full social calendar organised by Levienne Croft, with events from curry nights, BBQ’s, cupcake rides and even a Christmas fancy dress ride.

Their Sunday club rides are always busy with a varied group being split into three from a social ride to the fast group. The club now has an increasing women’s presence within the club and this is taken care of by Ladies Coordinator Kim Reading who also helps out with social activities.

The ‘Wheelers’ now turn their attentions to the new season as it has many events planned already and a lot more to follow. Racing in the South is looking good for Fareham again in 2014 so if you are interested in joining them and live within the area why not visit the club on a Tuesday night at their club night.
