Saturday, 8th March sees the official Team Launch of the Pearl Izumi Boot Out Breast Cancer Cycling team
![]() |
The launch will be an opportunity for all cyclists to join the team for a ride as well as meeting the girls themselves.
The launch will take place at The Point, Lancashire Country Cricket Club and will start at 10am sharp with a 90km loop out into the Cheshire countryside, also taking in a lap of the Cheshire Classic Road Race course. The Cheshire Classic is one of the best known races on the women’s calendar and was won by Dame Sarah Storey in 2012, the team will ride this race as one of their first domestic events of the new season.
Other cyclists are invited to join the peloton behind the team for this ride and can do so by making a donation of £10 to Boot Out Breast Cancer prior to setting off. The team would love to meet as many cycling fans as possible on that day and so please arrive in good time to join the ride when it leaves at 10am.
Following the ride there will be a 2pm formal launch inside the entrance of The Point and the girls will be available for interviews and signings after this formal presentation. Anyone who would like to attend as a member of the press should email teamstoreysport@hotmail.co.uk. Following on from the team presentation, the team will then attend the official Boot Out Breast Cancer Bollywood Ball. Tickets for this event are still available and can be bought by emailing Debbie@bootoutbreastcancer.org.uk
In addition to the news of the team launch, the team are also proud to be able to announce some further sponsor partners for the forthcoming season. Pro Lite wheels have joined the team as official wheel provider to complete the training bikes, race bikes and Time Trial bikes that the girls will be riding. Riding Ridley Helium training bikes and Helium SL race bikes and well as Ridley Dean Time Trial bikes, the team will be using the hard wearing Pro Lite training wheels and then carbon deep sections and rear discs for the race bikes.
The team have also managed to secure a bespoke compression wear deal with leading brand Compressport, who will be providing bespoke Boot Out Breast Cancer compression wear to the team. The bespoke design will also be on sale, helping to raise funds for both the charity and the cycling team. Further details can be found at http://www.compressport.uk.com/# over the coming weeks.
Riding to support the work of Boot Out Breast Cancer, the Pearl Izumi Boot Out Breast Cancer cycling team comprises 9 female riders and is registered to British Cycling. Further sponsor packages are available by contacting teamstoreysport@hotmail.co.uk.
Boot Out Breast Cancer is a charity run entirely by volunteers, every penny raised is spent on the equipment that NHS institutions need to diagnose the disease faster. The charity is not contributing financially to the running of the team and the team hope to be able to assist in fundraising for the charity as well as raising awareness of its work.
