A new cycling club Revolutions Racing based in Shropshire, has been formed in the West Midlands division

The brain child of Shrewsbury coach Martyn Frank, the original concept was a banner for his clients to race under but soon interest in a club that had its roots firmly in racing was reflected in a growing demand for places. Martyn said “the growth in cycling in Shropshire has been huge in the last couple of years with many of the local clubs having a focus on sportives.

That has never been what the sport is about for me. I set up Revolutions Racing initially for my clients but soon had other riders contact me about joining, knowing that all the members would be racing. I had mentioned the idea to Mark Fenn of MSF Fitness who was really supportive and offered his state of the art studio as a club venue. So between my own coaching business; Coaching Revolutions and MSF Fitness as sponsors, we have a great knowledge-base for riders to come and progress.”

“It’s a club for racers who want to better themselves and be supported by their club mates. We already have a great atmosphere and a proactive bunch of riders. With a mix of 2nd and 3rd category senior riders and the prospect of a good women’s team, it’s a very exciting combination. We are looking to compete in road, track, time trials and cyclocross races this season. The approach is from a rider development angle which involves a number of talks about training, planning and tactics alongside some skills sessions later in the year.

As well as competing in races, we will be organising a few social events too. We have floated a few ideas with the riders and the response and support from them and their families has been very positive.” Revolutions Racing have gained membership to the Shropshire and South Staffordshire Road Race League, the Shropshire Cycling Clubs Association as well as BC and CTT.
