Routes announced for 2014 Lincoln Grand Prix and West Common Junior Road Race

Route Deatils for 2014 Lincoln GP Revealed -Â Press Release – Sunday May 11th 2014
Routes to be used for the 2014 Lincoln Grand Prix and West Common Junior Road Races.
Both events will cover the same roads and distances to be used for the 2015 British National Road Race Championships for men and women and provide the organisation with valuable experience on these plans. Both events will feature a starting loop before joining the Grand Prix circuit. The Juniors will start at 10 am from the Yarborough Leisure Centre and cover one lap of this 30 mile loop followed by 4 laps of the traditional circuit for a distance of 68.4 miles (104.9 kms) including 5 climbs of the I in 6 cobbled Michaelgate Climb. The finish is expected at 1.00 pm. The race has now been included in the British Cycling Junior Road Series.

The Grand Prix will start at 11.30 am and cover 2 laps of the starting loop commencing once the Juniors are back and on the Grand Prix circuit. They will then pass though the Castle Square finish area after the juniors have finished to complete 8 laps of the Grand Prix circuit for a race distance of 124.7 miles (200 kms) including 9 climbs of Michaelgate.
The Grand Prix finish is expected at 4.10 pm. The Lincoln Grand Prix will be the third and final event in the British Cycling Spring Cup, part of the Elite Road Series.
The West Common Junior Road Race starts from the Yarborough Sports Centre at 10.00 am and leaves via the cycle track and Breedon Drive to join Burton Road. They then leave the City to pass the Burton Village junction and continue on the B1398 to the A1500 junction where they turn right and left to cross the A1500 to pass though Scampton village.
They stay on the B1398 to the A631 junction where they turn left on to the A631. In 4 miles they turn left off the A631 to pass though the villages of Springthorpe, Heapham, Upton, and Kexby.
At the junction with the B1241 they turn left to pass through Willingham by Stow, Normany by Stow, Stow and Sturton by Stow. At the junction with the A1500 Tillbridge Lane they turn left and right to cross the A1500 and stay on the B1241to Saxilby and turn left to North Carlton and climb the hill to the B1398 junction.
They then turn right on to the B1398 to Burton Hill junction and turn right to descend through Burton Village to join the traditional Lincoln Grand Prix circuit. They leave Burton via Fen Lane to the A57 junction and turn left towards Lincoln.
At the old racecourse and the Long Leys Road junction they turn left to pass through the feeding station and turn right on to Yarborough Road and descend to West Parade, crossing Motherby Lane on to Hungate and the cobbled 1 in 6 climb of Michaelgate. At the top they turn left in to Wordsworth Street and right on to Drury Lane and pass through the finish line the first time.
They then continue through Bailgate and Newport Arch on to Newport to turn left at the roundabout on to Yarborough Crescent and right on to Burton Road to complete 4 laps of the Grand Prix circuit and finish in Castle Square at 1.05 pm.

The Lincoln Grand Prix starts at 11.30 am from the Yarborough Leisure Centre and covers 2 laps of the starting loop by turning left at the top of North Carlton hill on to the B1398. After the second climb of North Carlton hill they turn right on the the B1398 to Burton and turn right to descend through the village. The continue on the Grand Prix circuit as the juniors but complete 8 laps of the Grand Prix circuit to finish in Castle Square at 4.10 pm.

Awards from 1.15 pm to 1.30 pm.
Lincoln Grand Prix to start at around 11.30 pm and join Burton Road after juniors have completed their initial half lap of the GP circuit (36 miles) This start time will depend on the time that the juniors first cross the finish line in Castle Square. The LGP riders to be held at Breedon Drive/Burton Road Junction until radio message is received from the finish line.
Complete 60.7 miles (plus neutralised) in 2 hours 20 minutes to arrive at Burton Hill Top after the juniors have finished Victory Ceremonies at 1.50 pm
Complete 124.7 miles @ 27mph in 4 hours 40 mins
