Revolution Heads for London

Spanish Madison champs Torres and Muntaner plus Kenny, Clancy, Trott, King + more to ride

FrancoisPervis2Multiple Olympic and newly-crowned world champions are confirmed to race the debut Revolution Series event at Lee Valley VeloPark in London on Friday and Saturday next week.

Triple sprint world champion François Pervis (right) is one of many who’ll be in a stripey jersey at the London finale, along with British Team Pursuit world champions Laura Trott, Elinor Barker and Katie Archibald. Madison world champs Albert Torres and David Muntaner of Spain will also ride.

In-form sprinter Pervis will face Jason Kenny in a World Championship rematch: Pervis triumphed over the British triple Olympic Champion at the quarter-final stage in Cali last week.

Olympic champion Trott will compete in an omnium which runs throughout the three sessions on Friday evening, Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening.

The Spanish Madison world champions will join a stellar line-up of Six Day talent to take on British stars like Ed Clancy, Steven Burke and Andy Tennant in a GB v Rest of the World contest on Friday night – the Ryder Cup of track cycling.

An equal number of British and international teams will race a Team Elimination and a 200-lap Madison. Then we’ll add up the points of each team and declare the overall winner.

Leif Lampater of Rudy Project RT has been on exceptional form throughout the Six Day season on the continent, along with his team-mate Christian Grasmann.

Meanwhile the German outfit Rudy Project RT lead the Elite Championship by 35 points, with Rapha Condor JLT second. Ollie Wood joins forces with Clancy at Rapha Condor JLT – they set the fastest-ever Madison TT time at Round 3 in January.

“It’s still close, there’s one more round to go so it’s not over yet,” said Clancy. “We’ll just try and race smart and pick up points where we can. We’ll open up the taps in London and see what we’ve really got.”

Matt Crampton, Philip Hindes, Callum Skinner and Matt Rotherham are on the sprint line-up – Tennant will ride for Madison Genesis and Olympic gold medalist Burke rides for HMT-Sportscover.

Saturday’s action from Lee Valley VeloPark will be streamed LIVE on YouTube. Subscribe to the FACE Partnership YouTube channel here.
