Another new event from Velo29 has been added to the calendar this year, the Bishop Auckland Cycle Races.

Velo29 already bring us the Stockton Elite Crit and though Bishop Auckland is not yet part of the Elite series, it has exactly the same facilities and the guys have even increased the prize pot to Â£2,500!!

The Route, released as an exclusive on VeloUK.net today is a fully closed road 840m circuit. It combines a long straight, some fast corners as well as technical ones and a tight blast down â€œFore Bondgateâ€ where spectators will hang over the barriers near the bars and take away enjoying the race.

We open the night with youth racing followed by the support 3/4/J/W event. Weâ€™ve got a Â£500 prize list for the support event, itâ€™s a rare opportunity these days to race in a Town Centre in front of big crowds and for the local riders to get on the podium. There will be some non-racing entertainment such as Roller Paluza and local clubs, street music and more to keep the spectators entertained.

The highlight of the day is the E/1/2 event, weâ€™ve tagged Bishop onto the end of the Crit Series and we are expecting to have all the big teams there.

Itâ€™s great to bring a top class event to Bishop Auckland, the calendar is full of small circuit races with organisers just turning up and doing the bare minimum. Velo29 have worked hard to engage ambitious partners, like Durham Country Council who can support and help deliver these big races for many years.
