The Isle of Man’s Peter Kennaugh finished 22nd on the final stage time trial to just hold off teammate Dario Cataldo to set up a 1-2 finish for Sky

News – Peter Kennaugh Wins Coppi e Bartali

A technical course and uphill finish provided a unique challenge in the time trial but played into the hands of Kennaugh who produced a measured ride to confirm victory. “Was a nervous time trial yesterday with my tri bars coming loose but nice to finally finish it off” he said later on Twitter.

Winner was Sky’s Cataldo who said to TeamSky afterwards “I was really happy to do a good ride and to move up to second in GC. I thought it might be possible to take second ahead of the stage but with such a short time trial it could be difficult. There was not that much opportunity to take time. It was not a completely flat time trial where a climber could lose a lot of time. I gave it my best and it turned out okay!”
