After a fast start to the race the 6 broke clear half way through the first of 8 laps on the rolling Drefach circuit. The break consisted of Davies, Hugh Wilson (NFTO), James Phillips (Dream Cycling), Zack May (Metaltek Kuota) and 16 year old Olympic Development Programme rider Joe Holt, who was also on home roads flying the flag for promoting club County Cycles Racing Team.

The break worked well together and pulled out a lead of around 1.20 on the bunch. There were several attempts to get across as the bunch quickly disintegrated on the heavy roads. Three riders eventually got clear of the chasing group – Ben Simmons (Wiggle), Lee Williams (Gateway Racing) and John Holt (County Cycles RT). The 3 riders got to within 40 seconds at the bell but up the road Davies had already put in his big attack on the finish climb.

Davies pulled away from the break and was the lone winner, putting 1 Minuit 20 into the break by the finish. Scott is a guest rider for the GB Olympic Academy this season and the tough round of world class under 23 races are clearly paying off.

Hugh Wilson took the sprint from the rest of the break ahead of James Phillips, Joe Holt (1st Junior), Zack May and Ben Davies. Another Minuit back Lee Williams finished strongest ahead of John Holt (1st Vet) and Ben Simmons.
Olympic Champion Dani King of Wiggle Honda won the ladies prize finishing in the top 20 overall.
