Another Massive Turnout For Isle of Man’s RL360 Youth League
(thanks Dot Tilbury)

In the novices class Emily Rewsin led the field home, taking the chequered flag with a clear advantage over Alfie Tummon, who was the runner-up for the fourth week in succession. Harry Wilson edged out Jayjay Plowman for third and Emily Cowell beat Bernat Munoz-Fite and Abigail Cowell to the line for fifth. Max Messenger pipped Graihagh Sheen, Alex Montgomery and Harvey Pitts for eighth, with Jessica Sherwin taking the main bunch sprint for 12th place.

Eddie Dillon scored another impressive solo victory in the born 2009 & later category. Cameron Hounsell ousted Callum Christian and Jarno Davidson in the battle for second, while Stanley Kinnish came from behind to snatch fifth from Graihagh Morgan, Harrison Skillan, Zach Jones and Grace Wolstencroft, who crossed the line in that order. Joseph Barker completed the top ten.

Alec Sorby dropped Myles Le Geyt on the last lap to secure maximum points in the born 2008 race. Ollie Eyres caught and passed Le Geyt on the finish straight to grab second and Oliver Cooper got the better of Freddie Griffin in the rush for fourth. Leading girl Fearne Bregazzi was a solid sixth and Samuel Corkill outgunned Summer Peters, Lennon Moore and Deaglan Blake in the chasing bunch sprint for seventh.

In the born 2007 event Cian Howard shook off main rival Orry Lund in the closing stages to record his fourth straight win. Rio Kelly held off Charlie Scarffe in the fight for third and Archie Dunn overcame Florence Griffin and Jordan Carter in the dash for fifth. Jemma Quayle was a solid eighth and Ben Davies kept a nine-strong pack of pursuers at bay to nab ninth. Olivia Quayle took the gallop for tenth.

Leaving his four breakaway companions in his wake to fight over the minor placings, recently crowned North West champion Cian Jackson was too strong for the opposition in the born 2006 class. Ivan Sorby got the verdict over Drystan Sewell in the clash for second and Owen Collins got clear of Zachary Dowson to take fourth. Samuel Devereau spearheaded a group of eleven riders in to round off the top six.

Niall Colquitt stuck to his race-winning formula in the born 2005 age group, attacking from the gun and time trialing to victory. Mairi Harrison fended off the strong finishing Harry Kneen to secure second and Tyler Annis maintained station for fourth. Chloe Dillon was a safe fifth and Alexander Deering outran Teddy Dunn and Frank Kinnish in the scrap for sixth.

Zac Walker led from start to finish in the born 2004 class, powering away from the field for a commanding solo victory. Dillon Dowson gave chase but in the end had to settle for the runners-up spot. James Devereau and Nathan Slack finished in close company for third and fourth respectively, with Kiera Prentice taking the girls’ honours in fifth place.

Five riders contested the finish of the born 2003 & earlier grouping, with Percy Hampton coming out on top ahead of Jonty Bregazzi, Emma Draper, Corrin Leeming and Matthew Cooil. Ramsey’s Tyler Hannay outsprinted Shellan Leeming and Matthew Black for sixth.

Repeating the tactics that brought him success in the born 2004 race, Zac Walker went from the gun In the under 10 racing bikes and was never caught. Dillon Dowson was second closely followed by Niall Colquitt, Ralf Holden and James Devereau in third to fifth places. Cameron Dudley led the second wave of riders home to complete the top six.

A large group of 15 riders stayed together at the head of the under 12 racing bikes. At the finish Charlie Gibson inched forward in the sprint to claim the win ahead of Aaron Lund and Will Corkill. The top girl was Shellan Leeming in 14th spot.

Conor Davies was the star of the under 16’s race, attacking with eight laps to go and staying clear to the flag for a well deserved victory. Several determined attempts were made to catch the lone frontrunner, but it was all in vain as Davies continued to stretch his lead. Matthew Draper beat Owen Dudley in the sprint for second, with William Draper, who made several bids for glory in early stages, the top under 14 rider in a fine fourth place. Sophie Black, Tara Ferguson and Kaitlin Slack were the first three girls in 7th, 12th and 13th positions.
