Stephen Whitewick won the Bournemouth & Dist Women’s CA 25 on a deceptively hard morning in Dorset

Report – Whitewick Turns Back the Clock
(by Eamonn Deane – more photos here)
Whitewick, who won the Charlotteville 50 last week, is rediscovering the form that saw him finish 7th in the National 10 in 2011 and he puts this renaissance down to a change in training. Now working closely with former Pro and Sky DS, Sean Yates of Trainsharp Coaching, Whitewick has dropped the volume and is loving the new approach.
“Its Sean’s enthusiasm for cycling, he will text me tonight asking, How did I go? How did I feel? What were my Watts? He is great to work with†he says of his new mentor.
Conditions looked promising on the P415 at Lytchett Matravers but a rising easterly wind made the trip down to Holes Bay hard and tempered the pre-race enthusiasm of most. Whitewicks 53.18 was too quick for Gary Dighton, (Primera-sports.com), 54.05. Dighton seems to have hit the doldrums after a quick start to the season, the foolish coach says do more, the wise coach says do less!
Paul Holdsworth (Hounslow & Dist Wh) put in a cracking ride for 3rd with 54.19. Visiting family in nearby Barton-on Sea, the seasoned tester took the opportunity to get his racing fix on a rare away day. Inspirational seventy year old Terry Icke took 4th spot with 55.21, backed up by Wayne Pitman & Les Pick; Poole Wheelers won the team award.
