Katie Archibald claimed victory in this year’s elite women’s Milk Race whilst Graham Briggs claimed the 1st prize in the elite men’s race

News – Briggs & Archibald Winners at Milk Race Crits

Riding around the city centre course in Nottingham for team Pearl Izumi Sports Tour International, the second year running that the event has been held in the city, Katie beat two of the stars of the Wiggle Honda team, Laura Trott and Charlotte Becker into second and third place after they had tried to 1-2 her but were unable to shift her from their wheels.

Meanwhile, in the men’s race Graham Briggs of Rapha Condor JLT was victorious over Raleigh’s Mathew Boulo and Velosure-Giordana’s Matt Cronshaw, who came in second and third respectively in a race which was held up by a crash where the ambulance was required. After the restart, a dozen or so broke clear where RCJ had the numbers and the attacking was constant with Raleigh noticeable by their attacking on the front trying to force a split.

Three riders did escape eventually in the closing stages and Matthieu Boulo of Team Raleigh had a big dig to go clear with a lap to go but was brought back with half a lap to go and Graham Briggs didn’t need to be asked and he countered over the top and rode clear to the finish. Boulo was second and Cronshaw third.
