News – World Tour Pros at London Nocturne

Team Sky, Garmin-Sharp, Rapha Condor JLT, Madison Genesis and NFTO feature in elite racing

From 4pm on Saturday 7th June the 2014 Jupiter London Nocturne takes place at historic Smithfield Market in the heart of the city – the eighth edition of the award-winning urban cycling festival. Exactly a month before the 2014 Tour de France hits London’s streets, Team Sky professionals Josh Edmondson and CJ Sutton feature in a world-class Schwalbe Elite Criterium line-up.

Garmin-Sharp duo Tyler Farrar and Nathan Haas will carry good form from the Giro d’Italia while last year’s winner Tom Scully defends his title for Madison Genesis alongside team-mate Andy Tennant. Double Olympic champion Ed Clancy will be vying for Rapha Condor JLT’s first Nocturne win while NFTO bring a strong squad featuring Adam Blythe, Russ and Dean Downing and James McCallum.

In the Elite Womens’ Criterium, team pursuit world champion Katie Archibald leads the charge for Pearl Izumi Sports Tours International. A strong field of 70 guarantees another thrilling womens’ race. The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said: “Londoners shouldn’t miss the chance to see Penny Farthings, folding bikes and even Barclays Cycle Hire bikes race around historic Smithfield Market. This free event has grown every year since 2007 and I’m sure the 2014 Jupiter London Nocturne will be the best yet.”

This year’s event features the traditional Folding Bike and Penny Farthing Races, with the Brooks Retro Criterium and Barclays Cycle Hire Race added to a packed programme. Food stalls and a cycling expo will fuel the festival atmosphere: bars and restaurants around the circuit will be buzzing as the racing continues into the night, ending at around 10.30pm.
