London Cycling Campaign (LCC) bring with them a slight lead in the medal table ahead of Team Mad Dog Energy Lemonade (MDL). Both teams have one gold and one silver apiece but thanks to the Bronze medal won by LCC rider Dave Johnson, the London based team enters their home event as Series Leaders.
MDL regular pro rider Anna Glowinski will be joined by Commonwealth and Olympic games medalist Ross Edgar as they attempt to close that gap to the leaders.
Team Velotec (TVT) will be bringing Glen Thomson to represent them. After recent success on the road Glen will be looking to add to the bronze scored in Round 1 by local Wildcard rider Lauren Higham.
But the other riders will be aware that both Maxine Filby and Lee Gratton of Cycle Chilterns (CCH) are looking for revenge after a dissappointing opening round in Stevenage with the team failing to get any riders into the finals.
Max has stated that they intend to win the team prize in Ealing and close that gap to LCC. Could they grap two golds by winning both the men’s and women’s finals? That would certainly guarantee the team would leave Ealing on top.
Adding to the mix are the ranks of Amateur riders. They will get their chance to qualify to race from 0900 on Sunday morning. The top 3 men and top 3 women in the two lap time trials will be locked into the main feature event as team mates to the Pros. Those finishing 4th and 5th in qualifying will face a 3 lap play off for the last remaining place in the line up.
In Stevenage amateur rider Dave Johnson topped the qualifying leader board and went on to win Bronze. His lap times were as quick as eventual Gold medalist and Olympic medal winner Craig Maclean MBE. So anything can happen and at this stage there is no form book.
So catch all the action this Sunday from 9am in Haven Green, Ealing. The main feature event starts at 3pm. See you there!
