Senior numbers were down this week mainly due to uncertain weather conditions plus the Masters Track Championships at Newport, however the youth numbers were well up with over 40 riders producing some excellent racing in the three age based categories

Cameron Thomson from Hillingdon won the opening 8 lap Under 16 event using this to familiarise himself to the Welwyn track where he will be competing in the Youth Omnium Final on 13th July. He also led a last lap dash to get his team ahead by under a second in the 8 lap Odds and Evens Block Pursuit but lost out to Adam Looker on the line.

Millie Gage continued her amazing form in winning all four of the mixed under 14 events, chased home by clubmate Josie Griffin in the 6 lap Handicap and Points race.
Welwyn dominated the 13 strong group in the under 12 events with Ollie Stockwell taking all 4 races including the three handicap races.

In the Senior B group George Clarke won the 10 lap scratch race but was then promoted to the Senior A group. A last lap attack by Julio Davis enabled him to win the 10 lap Block Pursuit by a whisker enabling his team colleagues to pick up some useful League points.

The small Senior A group produced some interesting battles – Frank Longstaff taking the opening 10 lap scratch and the 10 mile while Mike Broadwith and Joe Gorman shared the honours in the remaining events.
