Round 11 of Team RL360 Isle of Man’s youth league was held at the NSC last Tuesday night in perfect conditions. Before the action got underway RL360’s Communications Executive Angela Gregory presented league organiser Dot Tilbury with the company’s sponsorship cheque for 2014.

In the born 2009 & later category regular top three finisher Callum Christian picked up his maiden win, edging out Cameron Hounsell in the final sprint for the chequered flag. Leading girl Graihagh Morgan was a solid third ahead of Kylan Murphy, who won the bunch gallop for fourth. Zach Jones, Max Davies, Stanley Kinnish, Dylan Bullock, Lewis Cannon and Joseph Barker completed the top ten.

Sulby’s Tristan Speight made up a lot of ground in the closing stages to pip Emily Rewsin for the honours in the novices class. Jayjay Plowman was a lonely third and Abigail Cowell overcame Lucy Cartwright in the tussle for fourth. Jacob Gibb outgunned Luke Pledger, Isabella Clarke, Zac Lund, Dylan Honeyman and Harry Wilson to secure the final place on the top six leader board.

In the born 2008 event Myles Le Geyt held off the fast finishing Alec Sorby to notch up his fourth success of the series. Ollie Eyres was third and top girl Fearne Bregazzi broke away from the chasing pack to claim fourth. Joel Long and Oliver Cooper led a nine-strong chasing group home to round off the top six.

Cian Howard attacked at the start of the born 2007 race and stayed clear to the finish. Pursuers Rio Kelly, Orry Lund and Florence Griffin nearly closed the gap but ran out of road and had to settle for second, third and fourth respectively. Charlie Scarffe was a safe fifth and Jordan Carter rode clear from Cory Corkhill, Ed Coole, Ben Davies and Jemma Quayle to bag sixth.

In the born 2006 race Cian Jackson had to work hard to maintain his unbeaten record, fending off strong challenges from Ivan Sorby and Drystan Sewell in the final sprint for the line. Owen Collins and Zachary Dowson trailed in separately for fourth and fifth, with Harry Callin beating Rebecca Cooil and Samuel Devereau in the battle for sixth. Connor Moughtin and Nicola Quaye led the rest of the field in to fill ninth and tenth places.

Niall Colquitt went from the gun in the born 2005 class and time trialled to the finish for a comfortable victory. Harry Kneen took the main bunch gallop for second, with Oliver Corkish snatching third ahead of Tyler Annis, James Scott, Frank Kinnish, Chloe Dillon and Harry Boyle. Alexander Deering came in alone for ninth and Callum Salisbury kept Ella Griffin and Mairi Harrison at bay for tenth.

In the born 2004 event James Devereau and Dillon Dowson emerged from a leading group of eight riders to grab first and second respectively. Nathan Slack ousted Ben Boyle for third and Kiera Prentice led Megan Boardman over the line to take the girls’ prize in fifth spot.

Seven riders contested the finish of the born 2003 & earlier grouping, with Jonty Bregazzi taking the win ahead of Matthew Cooil, Tyler Hannay, Joseph Corkish, Corrin Leeming, Juan Kneen and Emma Draper.

In the under 10 racing bikes Ralf Holden notched up his first success of the season, surging ahead of Nathan Slack and the impressive Kiera Prentice in win the bunch sprint for the line. Dillon Dowson was fourth and Cian Jackson the leading u/8 rider in fifth slot.

The under 12’s race also ended in a group finish, with Charlie Gibson coming out on top in the final charge. Aaron Lund and James Harrison were second and third, with Percy Hampton recovering well from a crash in the earlier born 2003 race to take fourth. Jonty Bregazzi and Tommy Skillicorn were fifth and sixth, while Shellan Leeming was the best girl in 12th place.

In the under 16’s 25 lapper seven riders escaped at one third distance and went on to lap the rest of the field. At the finish it was Matthew Draper who took the honours a tyre’s width ahead of Michael Moss, Conor Davies, Owen Dudley, Thomas Bostock, Adam Kelly and Nathan Hinks. In the girls’ competition Sophie Black was the leading junior in eighth place, Tara Ferguson the first u/16 in ninth position and Amelia Sharpe the top u/14 in 16th spot
