Latest round of the Brooks Cycles Track League took place on Thursday 3rd July without interruption from threatening rain

Rain had threatened all day however the latest round of the Brooks Cycles Track League took place on Thursday 3rd July 2014 without interruption at the Lyme Valley Velodrome, Newcastle under Lyme, Staffs.

The night saw the first appearance of the season by Matt Walls ( Velocity RT/WD40) and he showed the speed that has elevated him to the number 1 ranking in the Under 16 category as he won all four events in the 10 lap scratch, points, devil and the final 10 mile event which was run off at a super fast speed. The night also saw the welcome ride by Joe Evans ( Haribo/Beacon) who started racing at the track when he was 12 years old. Joe is off in a coupe of weeks to the European Junior Championships representing Great Britain and all at the track wish him all the best. Joe was seen in the 10 mile constantly pushing the pace.

In the Sprint events Tom Rotherham ( Sportcity Velo) is starting to take a commanding lead in the league as he won the 2-up TT with team mate Jack Payne and also winning the latest round of the Keiren League. The other Sprint event . the Team Sprint was won by Dave Smith ( Stafford RC) Lauren Quenby ( Swinnerton Cycles) and Sean Mayer ( Swinnerton Cycles).

Joe Pattison ( Lyme RC) built on last weeks performances and is now a strong contender for the title as he won all four B races in the 8 lap scratch, devil, course de primes and the 10 mile scratch.
The youth races saw a good turnout with Alastair Kennington ( Lyme RC) extending his overall lead in the league as he won the 200mTT, devil and 6 lap scratch.

The Freewheelers Events saw some spirited racing with some close racing for the points on the line. After a full race program the top point’s scorers in each group were
