PRESS RELEASE
There is a strong affinity between cyclists and coffee and Rocket Espresso is a producer of some of the finest Italian handmade espresso machines. To celebrate that connection, Prendas Ciclismo have available with this beautiful full-zip jersey from Santini and those purchasing it will be supporting young riders who are recipients of grants from the Dave Rayner Fund.
Back in 2009, Rocket Espresso produced a limited edition “Giro d’Italia Cento Anni” domestic coffee machine. Only 100 were produced (long ago sold out) and it was a “must have” for Prendas. Mick Tarrant’s (owner of Prendas Ciclismo) quest for this beautifully made machine brought him into contact with Andrew Meo, a New Zealander and keen cyclist who is a partner at Rocket Espresso (Milan, IT).
Mick’s numerous trips to Italia to visit suppliers resulted in many lunches with Andrew and cycling was always high on the list of things to discuss. Fast forward to February 2014 and a visit to Rocket Espresso and the inevitable lunch resulted in a collaboration with Rocket Espresso with a cycle jersey bearing the name of this esteemed manufacturer.
This was not a business meeting by any means but a relaxed affair that gradually came to fruition with the help of Fergus Niland at Santini who designed the 2014 Maglia Rosa and many of the retro jerseys that Prendas offer for sale worldwide.
After the incredible success of the “Cento Anni†machine, there are twenty ProTour riders that daily rely on their Rocket Espresso machines to get them through their arduous training days in the saddle. When Prendas approach copyright and trademark holders, there is often a royalty to be paid and Rocket Espresso were happy to make a donation to a worthy cause. With Prendas Ciclismo already a supporter of the Dave Rayner fund, the idea of a donation from both Rocket Espresso and Prendas Ciclismo that would benefit the fund was approved wholeheartedly.
So, for every Rocket Espresso jersey sold, the Dave Rayner Fund will gain a donation of £10.
