It was another perfect evening at Bournemouth track, the warm, calm conditions providing some super racing.

Tom Day (Poole Wheelers) got proceedings underway winning a well handicapped Youth 6-lapper before B League leader, Gareth Rose (Bournemouth Arrow) made the 12 lap scratch look easy . Charley Calvert (Bournemouth Arrow) won the A league 15 lap version, seeing off the more experienced Adam D’Arcy Wykes (Team Terminator) & Richard Eastham (Bournemouth Jubilee). Calvert regulary knocks out a “22” in the club 10 and looks a real talent!

A series of 3 lap match sprints produced some tight finishes and some not so tight, Rebecca Hurst (Poole Wheelers) looked hungry in the ladies final, keeping the opposition high where she wanted them, she was never going to be passed, though Lucy Edmunds (Bournemouth Arrow) tried!

Gareth Rose proved too good for Dan Lovett in the B final, the A league is surely a better place for Rose? Frank Kilsby went with just over a lap to go, after a cagey start in the A league final, Eastham worked hard but was well beaten. It was Rose again in the B Elimination race, although fixed –wheel tester, Nick Frewin (Bournemouth Jubilee) put up a good fight.

The A League devil, the best race of the night, was full on from the gun; it was difficult to tell which were the sprint laps. There was no let up till just D’Arcy Wykes & Eastham were left with Wykes just taking it on the line. The final 20 lap Scratch saw half a dozen riders go clear on the first lap, among the six were Rose, Kilsby & Nel and it looked promising. But the chasers, encouraged by a vocal Eastham started to make inroads, the pace forcing a few out of the back door. The junction was made, the back markers were lapped and with 7 to go Kilsby went, he faded towards the end but his courage was justly rewarded!
