An ever increasing number of girls are taking part in the series and they are proving to be more than a match for the boys in most of the classes. Kiera Prentice enlivened the born 2004 race with an early attack. Only Ben Boyle was able to follow her and he stayed glued to her wheel until the finish when he came out of her slipstream to snatch the victory. Megan Boardman edged out Annabel Corkill and Eden McCubbin in the sprint for third, with comeback rider Joshua Dudley a lonely sixth. Toby Craig, Amy Quayle, Lucy Callow and Morgan Lavery completed the top ten.

The girls were also in the thick of the action in the born 2006 category. Ivan Sorby was the runaway winner, but behind him a determined Nicola Quaye came from behind to chase down and pip Harry Callin for the runners-up spot. Connor Moughtin ousted Rebecca Cooil, Harry Eyres, Tom Darnill and Lucy Field in the dash for fourth, while Corbin Stewart trailed in behind for ninth. Jenson Artus held off Tomas Flowers in the race for the final place on the top ten leader board.

In the born 2007 event Cian Howard went clear at the start and soloed to his thirteenth straight victory. Orry Lund outran the fast finishing Florence Griffin in the tussle for second and Charlie Scarffe stayed clear of Rio Kelly and Jordan Carter to claim fourth. Ben Davies overcame Jemma Quayle, Ellana Skillan and Ed Coole in the rush for seventh.

Strengthening his position in the fight for the overall honours, Alec Sorby rode away from main rival Myles Le Geyt on the final lap of the born 2008 class to notch up his eighth success of the series. Ollie Eyres was a safe third and Deaglan Blake had the edge on leading girl Fearne Bregazzi in the scrap for fourth. Edward Teare took the gallop for sixth ahead of George Kinnish, Joel Long, T.J.Teare and Oliver Cooper.

Niall Colquitt had to work hard to maintain his 100% record in the born 2005 category, outsprinting breakaway partner Oliver Corkish in the final dash for the chequered flag. Harry Kneen squeezed out Tyler Annis in the battle for third and Alexander Deering got the better of Mairi Harrison and James Scott in the dart for fifth. Frank Kinnish pipped Ella Griffin for eighth and Luca Moretta came in on his own to round off the top ten.

Six riders contested the finish of the born 2003 & later grouping, with Percy Hampton getting the verdict ahead of Corrin Leeming, Joseph Corkish, Jonty Bregazzi, Matthew Cooil and Tyler Hannay. Matthew Black was seventh and Josh Smith kept top girl Shellan Leeming at bay in the struggle for eighth.

In the youngest age groups Eddie Dillon went from the gun the born 2009 & later class, crossing the line well clear of chasers Cameron Hounsell and Callum Christian, who were second and third respectively. Kylan Murphy overtook Jarno Davidson on the finishing straight to secure fourth and newcomer Stanley Cubbon did well to hang onto sixth ahead of the main chasing pack. Brad Le Geyt took the bunch sprint for seventh ahead of Joseph Barker, Harrison Skillan and top girl Grace Wolstencroft.

Emily Rewsin powered away from the field for a comfortable win in the novices race, with Tristan Speight and impressive first timer Joseph Dawkins trailing in separately for second and third. Jayjay Plowman led Harry Wilson in for fourth and Carter Kneale got the verdict over Max Messenger and Alex Montgomery in the sprint for sixth. Luke Pledger and Dylan Honeyman wrapped up the top ten.

Niall Colquitt showed his superiority in the under 10 racing bikes with another decisive solo win. Ralf Holden outgunned Cameron Dudley, Cian Jackson and Nathan Slack in the gallop for second, while Kiera Prentice headed Ivan Sorby and Mairi Harrison over the line for sixth. Frank Kinnish was the best of the new “drop handlebar” riders in a creditable 14th slot.

In the under 12 racing bikes an aggressive Aaron Lund scored a well-deserved maiden victory, taking the bunch sprint after a promising attack from him had been neutralised. Jake Wilson and Tyler Hannay filled the remaining two slots on the podium, with Matthew Cooil, Tommy Skillicorn and Jonty Bregazzi rounding off the top six. Shellan Leeming took the girls’ prize in 11th position.

Conor Davies rode clear of breakaway companion Nathan Hinks on the final lap to bag the win in the under 16 racing bikes. Thomas Bostock beat Elizabeth Holden and Adam Kelly in the dash for third, while Tosh Teare circulated on his own in no-man’s-land for a solid sixth. Eleanor Davies stole a march on fellow chasers Lucas Mudie, Amelia Sharpe, Conor Gelling and Adam Scarffe to claim a good seventh.
