(thanks Nev)
It was a hot evening in Lancaster for The Edge Cycleworks and Total Cycle Coach events but it was made more bearable for the officials when Paolo Brucciani of the local Brucciani Ice Cream dynasty turned up with ice cream in a cold box.
At this point I should say Paolo won the race but back to reality and it was Steve Abbott (Team Hoppers Rollers) getting some form back after a lengthy recovery from a serious crash, who attacked from the start with John Agnew (BC PM) and gained almost half a lap before the bunch woke up.
When they were eventually reeled in it was Dillon Byrne (Champion System) who stretched the bunch until the elastic broke and he went away, taking junior John Didsbury (Summit Cycling) with him for a while and then riding solo for the last 20 minutes for a fine win. Steve Abbott had recovered enough to take the bunch sprint from James Gullen (Velosure Giordana).
The 3/4/W race saw Scot Easter (Felt) in several attacking moves either alone or with various other riders and still win the bunch sprint finish from Austin Aldren (Bella in Sella) with best placed woman being Eve Dixon (Team 22) in 10th.
Special mention and big thank you to Deb John for taking over the sign-on desk at short notice.
