Saturday afternoon, 100 riders took part in Zenith CC 10 mile time trial. Held at Long-Bennington in Lincolnshire, the course is basically an out and back circuit with three roundabouts to negotiate. The weather was windy, but did nothing to slow riders down as the build up towards the men’s National 10 mile championships hots up in two weeks time.

It was Matthew Bottrill ( that set the standard. Asking for an early start, Bottrill stormed around the course with a new course record of 18:33, slicing nine seconds of the previous record set by multi National time trial champion Michael Hutchinson.

The record was set but the battle for the podium was hotting up as just six seconds would separate Adam Gasgoine (Team Pedal power 19:09), Brett Harwood (Terry Wright Cycles 19:13) and Matthew Sinclair (Lutterworth Cycle Centre 19:15)! A great day for the Giant Trinity SL advance with three out of the four top places on that bike.

Summing up his ride, Bottrill, replied. “I went well today. I’m very motivated for the National 10 in two weeks time but I’m trying to push myself every training session I do. There’s some great competition for the event but I’m not thinking about any other riders. I can’t control what they’re doing but I want to win so will be pushing my body to its limits every training session I do.”

1st Matthew 18:33 (course record)
2nd Adam Gasgoine- Team Pedal power 19:09
3rd Brett Harwood-Terry Wright Cycles 19:13
4th Matthew Sinclair- Lutterworth Cycle Centre 19:15
