Colin Parry (BH-Solidor-WAM Youth) attacked on the climb up Woodham Hill into the chicane at Thruxton Motor circuit to give himself enough of a gap to solo across the line clear of a decimated leading group of eleven riders who had escaped on lap seven of sixteen.
A strong group of riders took to the 2.4mile circuit on a dry and fairly still afternoon for sixteen laps of the rolling circuit with its kick up just before the finish line sprint. The early few laps saw several attacks and on each occasion they were pulled back, but on lap seven the first attack to stay away went and rider after rider jumped clear until the group was eleven strong. Once the connection was made they soon set about putting time into the bunch. This group worked hard to maintain their lead which was over 30secs, and they maintained this until the bell.
On the last lap several riders saw a chance to get away but it was Colin who found the strength to get away on the climb and sprint to the line ahead of Lewis Atkins (Pedal Heaven Colbornes) and Justin Hoy (Felt Colbornes Hargroves RT) by a handful of seconds.
Mitch Evans (Ride 24/7) won the 3rd cat race with a lunge on the line to win by the width of a tyre from Dominic Spear (VC Meudon).  The women’s race provided a thrilling finish as Jayne Paine (Willesden CC) came from way back to win a race that even she must have thought was going to pass her by. The women were doing 10 laps and after four it split up when four got away leaving Jayne distanced. Jayne stuck at it until two laps to go when she finally attached herself to the back when one of the leaders dropped back. Jayne even managed to come from a distance to outsprint Ruby Chappell (Behind The Bikeshed) right on the line.
