The Southend criterium trophy for E/1/2 was held in the worse conditions of the morning, but a quality field lined up for 50kms of racing over the testing Hog Hill circuit.

The first few laps were very quick and with Tour series star Alex Paton of Pedal Heaven making big efforts on the front over half the field were out of the race by half distance. The two primes were taken by Alex Paton but with a few laps left it was Pedal Heaven team mate Robert Moore who went clear with Ashley Dennis and Simon Alexander.

The three riders quickly built a lead and fought it out to the line with Simon Alexander taking a popular win, having been a member of the promoting club up until last year.

Winner of the 3rd cat race James Fairbanks broke away on his own early on in the race and eventually had a gap of a minute over the bunch.
