Organisers Report
A Westerley breeze made for a challenge on the outgoing leg of the event. Hopefully riders all appreciated the tailwind heading back towards Bentley. Unfortunately at least one rider was affected by traffic conditions on the drive to Bentley. It was still nice to see a good turn out from the entrants.
Some issues with finish times meant a delay in processing a number of results, apologies to those that waited to check their times and thanks to those riders that assisted in reconciling the issue. Your patience was appreciated and many thanks to the timekeepers for working through to identify and rectify the error. Prizes will be sent out by post due to the delay in posting times on the board.
Times of the solo riders in the top three comprised as a 20:54 (and the only sub 21 ride of the day) for Steve Williamson (Velo Club Godalming & Haslemere), followed by 21:26 for Rick Froud (Alton CC/Owens Cycles) in second place and Jay Hookins (Devizes Town Cycling Club) on 21:47.
In the Women/Under 18s prize, the winner was Mandy Hibberd (North Hampshire RC) on 24:42, followed by Natalie White on 25:02 and Anna Stedman on 25:46 – both Charlotteville Cycling Club riders.
In the veterans competition Michael Deen (Redmon CC) took the honors with +5:29, followed by joint second place taken by Steve Williamson (Velo Club Godalming & Haslemere) and Alan Rowe (Club De Laune CC) on +5:19. Third place in this contest was taken home by Reading CCs own Roderick MacFadyen on +5:01.
Thank you to all the riders who turned up, I hope you enjoyed the event. My special thanks go to the timekeepers, helpers and caterers that contributed their effort to making the event run safely and smoothly. I hope to see you all again next year.
