EVENT PRESS RELEASE
This will be no ordinary event, no ordinary venue, no ordinary race ridden by ordinary riders. The 29th November 2014 will make history as the first ever World Cup Cyclocross race held outside of mainland Europe.
Beer and frites will be joined by tea and cake; the Belgische Driekleur will be partnered with the red, white and blue of Great Britain; cowbells will come to Campbell Park, and so will the very best cyclocross riders in the World. In ten weeks time, Milton Keynes will be the centre of the cyclocross universe.
It’s going to be wild. It’s going to be extraordinary!
Whether you’re a die-hard cyclocross supporter or if you’re actually just wondering what cyclocross is, you are very welcome to Campbell ‘Cowbell’ Park in ten weeks time. As well as a trackside view of the furiously fast, elbow-to-elbow Elite racing, there will be a veritable circus of vendors and entertainers. Cyclocross is a cycling discipline, yes. But it is also a culture. One of flag-waving, face-painting, hat-wearing, beer-drinking, hotdog-eating, fanclub-cheering and bell-ringing. In Milton Keynes we are going to do it all, and more.

The best bit? You can be a part of the party. The even better bit? Adult tickets are just £10, and U12s go free!
With a blank slate and expert but open minds, the organisers of the Milton Keynes Cyclocross World Cup have constructed a really exciting track and venue. The course is largely grassy parkland but with the unforgiving addition of a significant hill, so expect plenty of run ups plus tarmac, tight turns and open terrain. It’s spectator and television friendly, and it’s only a short walk from the centre of Milton Keynes, a city and council infused with enthusiasm for the event, and full of support.
With thanks to presenting partners, Ridley and Trek, plus the likes of Lazar helmets, Shimano, Phil Corley Cycles and Madison, the Milton Keynes World Cup can be one of the biggest and best sporting events of the year, and be right up there with the prestigious races of the Belgian cyclocross heartland.
So what do two of the UK’s biggest cyclocross stars think about the race? Nikki Harris is one of the big names of international cyclocross, she says, “Any World Cup excites me, to have one less than an hour from my front door is giving me goosebumps already. I’m sure the home support will be immense & I’m hoping I can be in top shape on the day & fight for a home win in the race’s first year.â€

Current National Champion and World Championship bronze medalist, Helen Wyman, says “Having been to the course, I genuinely cannot wait. It’s such an exciting course, at a great venue and is going to be rock hard! I love tough races and I know this one will not disappoint. Everyone should come out to watch as cyclo-cross is such a friendly, fun, exciting sport to watch. You will be able to watch THE best elite racers in the world, men and women, competing at a truly world class venue. I know I’m excited already!â€
As if Saturday’s Elite World Cup wasn’t enough, Sunday will play host to a round of the British National Trophy series which see the best riders in the UK duke it out over six rounds for individual race victories and overall series triumph.
So why not make a weekend of it? Two days of superb racing accompanied by a unique atmosphere, and all within a stones throw of the hotels, restaurants and bars of Milton Keynes. We even have accommodation offers for you, and people on hand to help you make the most of your weekend.
You can buy your tickets now, and find out all the information you need, at www.miltonkeynesworldcupx.com
A chance for Britain’s best to fight it out on home soil with the might of the Low Countries, the strength of the USA, the firepower of the French. It’s all set for greatness.
Let’s make it amazing. Let’s make history. Let battle commence, in T minus 10 weeks…
