Rapha Super Cross Series Round 1 & 2
Round 1 of the Rapha Super Cross started at broughton hall in Skipton, North Yorkshire this weekend. Jody Crawforth took the win in fine style taking the lead into the final lap and making a break with half a lap to go and holding on to the flag to take Hargrove Cycles RT’s first individual win for three series!

However the race started in the worst possible way as Steve James crashed and knocked himself out at the second corner! Amazingly, he got himself back on his bike and then set about catching as many people as possible. Steve’s incredible effort got him back to 5th and saved a result from nothing! Matt Hargroves finished in the 20’s and Andy Hargroves was saved for the second day. Ruby Miller scored a top 5 in her first visit to the Rapha Supercross!
Round 2, day 2, saw less first lap drama but more of Jody Crawforth winning! Jody got a gap on the first lap and never looked back despite a late challenge, to make it a stellar weekend for him and the team! Steve James backed up Saturday’s comeback ride with third, just losing contact with second place over the closing laps making it two Hargrove Cycles RT’s riders on the podium. Ruby Miller went one better than the day before and finished 4th while Andy Hargroves finished just outside the top 20.
Hargroves Cycles – Ridley RT sit 4th just two points off second place going into the final round on Saturday at Ally Pally in London. We’d like to make a special mention to Chris Metcalfe of Charge Bikes who stopped to tend to Steve on Saturday when he was lying motionless on the floor, he gave up his own race to use his medical skills to check Steve was ok. We are extremely grateful!
World Cup RD1 – Valkenburg
Ian Field kicked off his World Cup campaign in Holland on Sunday with 30th place, but that isn’t the whole story as Ian spent the whole night up citing a stomach bug. Despite this, he still raced as hard as he could and showed his class to gain a very credible result under the circumstances. We can’t wait to see what he can do when he’s well! Be sure to come and watch him at Britain’s first world cup in Milton Keynes on the 29th of November!
Harry Yates took the win in the West Midlands league continuing his good run before our home race next week in Southampton! Elsewhere, Matt Mcdonald stormed to a second place finish at the Wessex league rnd 7, Reading. Rounding off another successful weekend for the team.
