The final day of competition in the Track Cycling World Cup saw Great Britain’s Jason Kenny come away with a Silver medal after making the third final of the World Cup. Winner in the Team Sprint and fourth in the Keirin, the Bolton rider narrowly lost to Australia’s Matthew Glaetzer in two heats of the final of the Men’s Sprint.

That was as good as it got for Great Britain with no other medals in the remaining events of the World Cup. Jess Varnish was eliminated from the Women’s Keirin competition in the first round and then beaten by legend Anna Meares in the repechage. There were no fairytale endings in either the Men’s or Women’s Omniums either. Jon Dibben was 13th in the Kilometre and followed up with 11th in the flying lap event. The final round, the Points race, and Jon suffered in this as well and completed the six events in 19th place.

Scotland’s Katie Archibald was also 13th in her time trial, over 500 metres and then 13th in ther Time Trial. A 17th in the Points meant that overall, Katie ended the competition in the same position, 17th.

The next round of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup takes place in London from 5-7 December.

Great Britain was second behind Australia in the medal table.
