A familiar face on the UK domestic road race scene for many years, and winner of some of the most prestigious races including the Lincoln GP and National Criterium Championships, has signed up as a brand ambassador for Continental bicycle tyres.

• Dean Downing to take on media & promotional role for Continental UK distributor
• Multi national champion & long time Continental user will feature in online media promotions and work at various events in 2015

Recently retired, after spending his final season at the NFTO Pro Cycling team, Dean will continue his association with cycling via coaching and media work, and now also with this new role working with Cambrian Tyres who are the exclusive UK importers for the Continental bicycle and motorcycle tyre products.

With the UK racing scene full of the cut & thrust of city centre criterium races, what better ambassador could there be than somebody who won regularly, placing his trust in Continental tyres on those tight street circuits.

Shelley Childs, head of UK marketing for the Conti bicycle brand at Cambrian Tyres stated, “We’ve worked with Dean in the past including using him in one of our national advertising campaigns. He’s ridden at the top level, knows and respects the product and he’s an approachable guy that can ‘talk tyres’ to both our trade customers and end users”.

Dean himself is looking forward to the task in hand. “With cycling’s popularity on the rise, both new and experienced riders are so keen on learning more about the physical and technical aspects of the sport. My new roles will complement each other and so along with my official work with Continental, I’ll be riding their tyres and recommending which models to choose to my clients all year long”.

Downing will start work during the winter months, helping produce some new online tyre servicing demo’s, before appearances at various shows and sportives in 2015.
