The UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team launched an all-new and enormously successful women’s program in 2014, which earned overall victories at stage races like the Tour de Femenino de San Luis, Vuelta El Salvador, and Tour of the Gila, then went on to win all three of the US national championship jerseys.
Returning riders are Rushlee Buchanan, Lauren Tamayo, Hannah Barnes from Britain, Alexis Ryan, Katie Hall, Cari Higgins, Scotti Wilborne, Ruth Winder, and current national criterium champion Coryn Rivera keep the successful 2014 team dynamic moving forward, while welcoming new riders into the program.
Joining the team for 2015 is the talent of Linda Villumsen, Abby Mickey, and Laura Brown. Villumsen won both the Danish national road and time trial titles three years in a row before becoming a citizen of New Zealand. A consistent podium threat for both road and time trial disciplines, having earned silver and bronze in both on multiple occasions, Villumsen will continue to pursue victory at the highest level.
American Abby Mickey turned heads when she rode to 3rd overall in the 2014 Tour of the Gila. Mickey is an exceptional climber, with wins at the Lookout Mountain Hill Climb and Iron Horse Classic Road Race on her resumé. Canadian Olympic bronze medalist Laura Brown adds significant time trial ability to the team, having won the Tour of the Gila time trial in 2014.

General manager Mike Tamayo commented, “We have a well-rounded and tremendously capable squad assembled for 2015, one that represents the talented riders of today, as well as the up-and-coming talent of the future. We’re excited to hit the road and start racing.†While the men’s and women’s rosters of the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team have differing schedules and objectives for the 2015 season, the presentation made the cohesiveness and family-like atmosphere of “One Team†very clear.
General Manager expanded on that idea with a closing thought, “At the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team we are truly One Team – and that not only means we’re one team in terms of the men and women, it’s bigger than that. What you don’t always see are the mechanics, massage therapists, soigneurs, team physicians, marketing staff, and especially the sponsors and the fans, they’re a big part of what makes this all happen. It’s a big family that all works together, any of these riders could attest to that.â€
