Press Release
With hundreds of pounds worth of coaching, lab testing, sports equipment, clothing and a £3,000 time trial bike up for grabs, the league will have one of the richest prize funds in the UK thanks to local businesses PerformanceCoaching.me, STC Teamwear and VO2 Sports. But don’t think only the top riders will be winning these prizes. The top prizes are reserved for the new and up-and coming riders in order to encourage more women to take up the sport.
We are really excited to be partnering with these local companies who have come onboard for the new season and they are intent on supporting WERL in it’s quest to support and encourage both female riders and the organisers of women’s events.
WERL was set up in 2014 to provide cohesion between existing races, a focal point for information for female cyclists and to encourage more riders to attend more races in the region.
The Performancecoaching.me WERL Road Race League is sponsored by the coaching service Performancecoaching.me and the bespoke sportswear kit designer STC Teamwear, this league will consist of 12 road and criterium races, with riders competing for the leaders’ jerseys in the overall league and the individual 3rd category and 4th category, who will each receive 6 months of free coaching as well as lab testing, together worth over £300, which will help the riders to progress into the upper levels of the sport.

The WERL Time Trial League in association with VO2 Sports
Due to popular demand and having seen the success of SEWTTS in the south east, we have decided to run a separate TT league in conjunction with the road league for 2015. Time trials are a far less intimidating introduction into competitive cycling and we feel that we can introduce a great number of riders into the sport through a this league.
The new TT league will see riders competing within two categories – the traditional time trial category and the non-adapted road bike category. Any female rider can compete in the traditional category, whereas the road bike category is limited to riders on road bikes, without tri-bars, disc wheels or aero helmets.
VO2 sports will be providing the prizes for the top three in both of these categories, with the overall winner of the road bike category taking away VO2 Sport’s brand new £3000 VO2 Velocity full carbon time trial bike with deep section rimmed wheels.
More sponsors and prizes will be announced over the coming months. For more information and news, visit www.WomensEasternRacingLeague.co.uk and follow us on twitter @WERLeague.
