News – Giordana Triton Women’s Team
Last weekend, riders in the Giordana Triton Women’s Team made the journey to London for sponsor Yellow Ltd who were showing their well known products at the London bike show.
The team is made up of many of the riders in the RST/NFTO team from 2014 with some notable additions, namely Women’s national series winner Nicola Juniper. The team is named after one of Yellow Ltd’s products, Giordana and will be racing on another of them, the Pinarello Prince bike. After all, every girl should have a Prince! The other title sponsor is Triton.
Giordana sponsored a UCI Men’s team in 2014 and are rumoured to be putting together a men’s team including the experienced Dave Clarke. One of the team’s key signing’s is Nikki Juniper, winner of the Ryedale and Tour of Reservoir to name but two of her big victories in 2014. She is, said a team insider, a fabulous role model for the younger riders in the team with Nikki well known for not being afraid to get stuck into a race and making it her own.
The talented Sarah Bryne is another new addition and after a short time away from the sport, is on the way back and training hard. Keira McVity has already notched up at least one win for the team in 2015 and is a youngster determined to get her act together this year and is already being helped & mentored by Nikki.
Annasley Park is super strong and totally committed to the team whilst Lauren O’Bien will be doing her best to mix A levels in her final year at school with her cycling. Another of the star riders is sprinter Grace Garner who’s had to contend with illness since September but is on the way back and hoping to be getting her hands in the air many a time in 2015 as well as finishing her A levels.
Lizzie Holden from the Isle of Man is a great all round rider who can climb and also has a good sprint and those close to her feel she can go a long way in the sport as many from the Rock have done and are still doing so.
The petite but exceptionally strong Ellie Dickinson had a fabulous season as an Under 16 and this season will be a first year junior. Finally, another of the team’s winner is Abby Mae Parkinson who has been working hard over the winter and is really determined to continue winning whether its in road races or time trials.
DS will be Rob Holden and we wish the team all the best in 2015.
