The 2015 Danum trophy Road Race was well supported for the early season opener in South Yorkshire with a high quality field of 70 riders on the start line set in the picturesque grounds of High Melton College on the outskirts of Doncaster for 60 miles of tough racing.

From the very first climb to Cadeby on the first of ten laps, two riders escaped the main pack with Doncaster’s Graham Briggs and Ben Hertherington making the early move which succeeded until the last lap when two of Briggs JLT Condors team mate bridged the gap to the two leaders.

A chasing group of 6 riders formed behind the break away riders but failed to make contact until Tom Moses and Harry Tanfield bridged the gap on the last main climb.
Briggs kicked again on the final lap through Sprotbrough Village to hold off Ben Hertherington by 4 seconds with Jo Moses trailing in 5 seconds later for third place. Sheffield’s Joey Walker put in an excellent performance finishing in 6th place and the first junior.

The event was a jointly organised by members of The Doncaster Wheelers Cycling Club and Dinnington Road Club and was sponsored by Universal Cycle Centre and Don Valley Cycles with support from the Doncaster College High Melton Campus.
