News – Raleigh miss out on Tour de Yorkshire

The iconic colours of Team Raleigh GAC will not be seen at the inaugural Tour de Yorkshire

The line-up for the race was announced this morning and the organisers took the decision to invite NFTO, Team WIGGINS, Team GB & Madison Genesis. That meant there was no room, with the selections from the higher echelons of the sports, for Team Raleigh GAC and JLT-Condor.

Raleigh GAC team principal, Cherie Pridham, said: “Last year’s Grand Depart showcased Yorkshire as a great place for cyclists and the support the British public gave to the teams was fantastic. “The team would have loved to have been part of the inaugural Tour of Yorkshire, however, the selection did not go in our favour.”

“I am bitterly disappointed that Team Raleigh GAC will not feature in this year’s event as I know just how much the riders were looking forward to it. Sadly it’s a decision that is made by the organiser’s and is out of our control. We have some brilliant races planned for this year and our fans will have plenty of opportunities to see the riders competing in some of the country’s best races.

“I wish the organisers the best of luck and hope the event builds on the success of last year’s grandest ever Grand Depart.”
