Madison Genesis opened the 2015 season in fine style with a fantastic second place by Tom Scully in the opening 3.6km Individual Time Trial. The short undulating course proved to be as much of a technical challenge as physical, with virtually no flat roads and 11 corners during the short time stage.

Sun drenched the start and finish area in Place General De Gaulle in Saint-Lô (Normandy) although the temperature struggled to make double digits by the time the first rider rolled down the start ramp at 13:45 due to the cold wind. With that wind predicted to increase as the afternoon went on, we opted for Tom to start early. It proved to be a good decision, with both the winner and Tom coming from the early starters. Tom rode a near faultless lap, cutting every corner perfectly to finish in second place by the narrowest of margins. Buoyed by Tom’s great result, the rest of the team performed incredibly well, with the all the riders within striking distance of the winner; tomorrow’s 207km wind and rain swept stage is going to be interesting!

Roger Hammond, Team Manager: “The guys rode really well, I was pleasantly surprised as it isn’t easy to ride a 3.6km prologue as the first race of the year, especially after the work they have done recently. Tom really showed his world class turn of speed and power – it was a struggle to keep up in the car! Great to be back racing!”
