News – Win number 5 for Bottrill
Saturday afternoon in the small village of Giffydam in Leicestershire saw some of the finest time traillists in the county taking part in the Coalville wheelers 10 mile time trial.
The course would take in the villages of Tonge-Breedon-Lount before the major climb of Vinegar hill would be tackled before pushing on to the finish in Osgathopre.
The course is a very demanding and technical one with some very hard climbs. With high gust of winds, it was going to be a very hard days racing. Evergreen super vet Geoff Platts set the standard with 22:24 This was then followed by Platt’s team mate Scott Walker with 22:02. The course record holder Matt Sinclair was the next to start and lowered his own course record from 21:47 to 21:10 to take the lead.
Matthew Bottrill, was the last to start and on local roads, put his knowledge to the test with a very rapid 20:22 for a new course record and his 5th win and 5th course record of the season. “Today came after a really tough weeks training and before the start, I warmed up doing a 22 minute ride, so I knew the course record would be within reach”.
“I’m really happy with how things are mapping out and I can keep building on this towards my future goals through the season.”
