News – Jerseys for Tour Series
With 30 days to go until Britain’s fastest cycling teams race into action on the Isle of Wight, the leader jerseys for the seventh edition of the Pearl Izumi Tour Series have been revealed.
This year’s fastest team will wear a new red and white Pearl Izumi jersey, which will be presented for the first time to the winning team following the opening Team Time Trial in Ryde, Isle of Wight on Thursday 14 May.
Worn by all five riders in the leading team the red and white jerseys are designed to stand out and be easily identifiable both for spectators lining the town and city centre circuits, and those watching the highlights of every round on ITV4.
Also revealed is the new for 2015 Chain Reaction Cycles Points Jersey, taking the place of the previous Sprints Jersey. In addition to points awarded at three mid race sprints, the top five riders at the finish will now also receive points towards the Chain Reaction Cycles Points Jersey, making the competition even more hotly contested than usual.
The jerseys for the 2015 Matrix Fitness Grand Prix Series have also been revealed, which will take place at five venues during May and June, starting in Redditch on Tuesday 19 May and concluding alongside the men’s event in Bath on Thursday 11 June.
The rider following in 2014 Champion Eileen Roe’s wheeltracks as Individual Series leader will wear a red and white Pearl Izumi jersey, matching that of the men’s Pearl Izumi Tour Series, while the women’s sprints leader wearing the same green and white jersey as won by Helen Wyman in 2014.
The jerseys are made using Pearl Izumi’s PRO-level fabrics such as its Aerocool© fabric on the sleeves and shoulder panels and mesh fabric across the body to maximise air flow combined with the brand’s unique rotated sleeve design and anatomic construction. Event merchandise along with a range of other products from the leading cycling, running and triathlon apparel brand will be available at the Pearl Izumi Trailer at each round of the Pearl Izumi Tour Series.
Fans in the south of England or travelling to Round One at Ryde on the Isle of Wight can also visit the Pearl Izumi outlet store at Gunwharf Quays (Unit 91) in Portsmouth, just a short walk from where the Wightlink ferries depart to the Isle of Wight.
Nine teams will contest the 2015 Pearl Izumi Tour Series, led by defending champions JLT Condor presented by Mavic, who boast the winningest rider in the Series with six individual wins, Olympic Champion Ed Clancy. Two new squads will make their debuts in Ryde, the ONE Pro Cycling team of England cricketer Matt Prior and Team WIGGINS, the new squad for Sir Bradley Wiggins from 1st May.
Past winners of the unique, team based Pearl Izumi Tour Series are Team Halfords Bikehut (2009), Motorpoint Marshalls Pasta (2010), Rapha Condor Sharp (2011), Endura Racing (2012), Team UK Youth (2013) and Rapha Condor JLT (2014).
