Team work by Team Velosport helps Abbie Dentus to victory at Castle Combe

Team News – Team Velosport

The race was an early round of the Susie’s Circuit Races at Castle Combe and it was open to Women riders E/1/2/3/4. We had Amy Brice, Hayley Simmonds, Jenny Crouch and Abbie Dentus line up in Velosport colours. It was quickly obvious that Team Velosport were being controlled very closely by all the other riders.

Amy Brice attacked after 3 laps, but no one went with her so she stopped her attempt with little chance of staying away in the windy conditions. There were several attempts to break away from various riders but with nothing having any success. With 1 lap to go the peloton was all together and it looked like it would be a bunch sprint.

The Velosport team then were able to use their practised lead out train to help Abbie Dentus, the teams sprinter to be in the right place with 500m to go. As planned before the race, Jennifer Crouch gave to Abbie Dentus a fantastic and very powerful lead out which placed Abbie in the perfect place enabling her to sprint to a convincing victory.

Second place was Amy Hill. An well coordinated effort by the whole Team, who were very happy with the result!
