Colne Grand Prix confirmed for July 15 ahead of Tour of Britain visit in September

News – Colne Grand Prix July 15th

With the Tour of Britain finishing in the Town on September the 7th there has been some delay in confirming Colne Grand Prix’s established date in the National circuit series. Sponsorship, road closures and a new organising body are in place and support races for youth A and B , category 2/3/4 and the Elite race will appear on the BC event calendar soon.

Cycle Sport Pendle (CSP) along with British Cycling’s NW event administrator Dave Cockram will deliver the event on Behalf of Colne Town Council. Spokesman for CSP Peter Boast said. “Naturally we are delighted the Tour Of Britain will finish stage 2 in Pendle but it has resulted in additional pressures regarding Colne Grand Prix and these are now resolved thanks to continued sponsorship from Country Holidays and Fort Vale Engineering with a prospective third sponsor for a future stars youth race to start off the evenings racing”

“Additionally the commitment of CSP to come forward and take the rains in terms of event delivery is testament to the great work being done in the Borough by the club delivering the legacy that is the 1.1 km Steven Burke closed road circuit.”
