Conditions were perfect for the 361 young cyclists who turned out at a sun-drenched NSC last Tuesday night for round two of Team RL360 Isle of Man’s youth circuit racing league
Report & Results – Isle of Man’s Youth League
Joseph Nodwell scored a clear win in the novices class, crossing the line some distance ahead of runner-up and top girl Liberty Delooze. Norah Ellis overcame Joel Prentice and Oliver Schofield in the dash for third, with Holly Ellis leading Shannon Skillan, Jessica Sherwin and Andrew Tomlinson home for sixth. Isaac Scott outgunned Isabella Clarke, Kerron Corlett and Lily-Faye Bell for the final place on the top ten leader board.
In the born 2010 & later category Brad Le Geyt was too strong for Lula Kinnish in the final surge for the chequered flag, while Dylan Bullock had the edge on Archie Mulholland and Stanley Kinnish in the fight for third. Samuel Dowson pipped the fast finishing Daniel Minay for sixth and Conor Madsen-Mygdal came through the field to snatch eighth from Billy Kneen and Joshua Cross. The hard working Main Watterson spearheaded the main bunch in for a well-deserved eleventh.
Eddie Dillon outsprinted breakaway partner Cameron Hounsell to win the born 2009 age group for the second week running. Jake Jones was a safe third and Sean Crone kept chasers Joseph Dawkins, Zach Jones and Thomas Radcliffe at bay to secure fourth. Jarno Davidson edged out Thomas Pickavance for eighth and Matthew Hooper repelled a challenge from Joseph Barker to grab tenth. Abi Clayton was the first girl in 12th spot.
Alec Sorby escaped from a leading group of ten riders to take maximum points in the born 2008 race. Freddie Griffin was a solid second and T.J.Teare won the battle for third ahead of Myles Le Geyt and Ryan Nelson, who were fourth and fifth respectively. George Kinnish outran Oliver Cooper and Fearne Bregazzi for sixth, with Charlotte Geldart finishing strongly to seize ninth from Edward Field and Joel Long. Charlie Williams headed Lennon Moore, Ella Darnill, Leon Murphy and Arthur Blaymire over the line to round off the top twelve.
Repeating the tactics that brought him success in round one, Cian Howard went from the gun in the born 2007 event and stayed clear to the finish. Chaser Orry Lund settled for a secure second place, while Florence Griffin and Charlie Scarffe broke free from a group of seven riders to pick up third and fourth. Rio Kelly got the better of Cory Corkill, Jemma Quayle, Jordan Carter and Archie Dunn in the scrap for fifth, with Lucas Brockbanks edging out James Kinrade and Ella Skillan for tenth.
In the born 2006 class Ivan Sorby was too fast Owen Collins and Drystan Sewell in the final gallop for the flag. Zachary Dowson, Nicola Quaye and Samuel Devereau came in separately for fourth, fifth and sixth, with Tom Darnill overcoming Rebecca Cooil for seventh. Tom Caine and Lucy Field wrapped up the top ten.
Niall Colquitt made an early attack in the born 2005 three lapper and time trialled to a fine solo victory. Six riders were in the sprint for second place, with Teddy Dunn getting the verdict over Oliver Corkish, Tyler Annis, Mairi Harrison, Frank Kinnish and Chloe Dillon. Ella Griffin was a lonely eighth and Callum Salisbury just beat Lena Coole in the battle for ninth.
The ever improving Tyler Hannay also went early in the born 2004 & earlier grouping and maintained his advantage to the finish. Dillon Dowson was second, while Shellan Leeming and Matthew Black could not be separated in equal third place. James Devereau was fifth and Nathan Slack sixth.
In the under 10 racing bikes Niall Colquitt took the honours in a six-strong bunch gallop for the line. Cian Jackson was second, closely followed by Drystan Sewell, Ivan Sorby, Cian Howard and Owen Collins. The girls’ prize went to Mairi Harrison in seventh spot.
A breakaway group of eight riders contested the finish of the under 12 racing bikes, with Zac Walker coming from behind to clinch the win ahead of Tyler Hannay, Tommy Skillicorn, Jonty Bregazzi, Matthew Cooil, Jack Christian, Matthew Black and Ralf Holden. Dillon Dowson led the chasers home in ninth spot and Darcy Cain was the best girl in 15th place.
Will Draper won the under 16 racing bikes in fine style, outsprinting eleven fellow frontrunners in a frantic dash for the line. Thomas Bostock and Daniel Scarffe were second and third, with the ever improving Ben Christian a good fourth. Tosh Teare and Adam Scarffe completed the top six and Eleanor Davies took the girls’ prize in an impressive tenth position, staying with the fast moving leaders all the way to the finish.
