RL360 Isle of Man’s Youth League Round 3 – thanks Dot Tilbury
In the novices class Norah Ellis overcame a strong head wind down the finishing straight to take the victory, outsprinting Joseph Nodwell and Abigail Cowell in the race for the line. Liberty Delooze and Joel Prentice were a safe fourth and fifth, with Oliver Schofield grabbing sixth a short distance ahead of chasers Andrew Tomlinson, Evie Wright, Kerron Corlett and Lily-Faye Bell in seventh to tenth respectively.

Brad Le Geyt pipped Kylan Murphy and leading girl Lula Kinnish in the dash for the top slot in the born 2010 & later age group. Daniel Minay led Dylan Bullock and Archie Mulholland over the line for fourth, while Stanley Kinnish held off Samuel Dowson in the tussle for seventh. Harrison Skillan was a solid ninth and Hugh Osborn surged ahead of Conor Madsen-Mygdal and Amelie Geldart to snatch tenth.

Eddie Dillon maintained his unbeaten record in the born 2009 category, outgunning Cameron Hounsell and Jake Jones in the scrap for the chequered flag. Joseph Dawkins overtook Sean Crone on the final lap to claim fourth and Thomas Pickavance kept Zach Jones and Matthew Hooper at bay to seize sixth. Jarno Davidson and top girl Grace Wolstencroft completed the top ten.

Alec Sorby led from the start of the born 2008 race and was never challenged. Freddie Griffin and T.J.Teare escaped from the chasing pack to take second and third, with Fearne Bregazzi ousting Oliver Cooper for fourth. George Kinnish passed Ryan Nelson in the closing stages to secure sixth and Edward Field led the rest of the bunch home for eighth.

In the born 2007 event Cian Howard powered away from breakaway partner Orry Lund on the last lap to bag maximum points for the third week in succession. Charlie Scarffe overcame Florence Griffin in the struggle for the remaining place on the podium and Rio Kelly worked his way through the field to take a well-earned fifth. Ben Davies beat Cory Corkhill, James Kinrade and Jemma Quayle in the gallop for sixth.

Owen Collins got the better of fellow frontrunner Ivan Sorby in rush for the honours at the end of the born 2006 class. Drystan Sewell lost contact with the leading duo on the final lap, but held off the fast finishing Zachary Dowson in the dart for third. Nicola Quaye kept Tom Caine, Samuel Devereau and Rebecca Cooil in her wheel tracks to grab the girls’ prize in fifth place, while Tom Darnill was a lonely ninth ahead of Jack Christian who won the bunch sprint for tenth.

Niall Colquitt and Frank Kinnish got away together on the penultimate lap of the born 2005 three lapper. Colquitt rode clear of Kinnish at the finish to bag the win, with Tyler Annis heading Teddy Dunn in for third. In the following born 2004 & earlier grouping Tyler Hannay went from the gun and time trialled to a fine solo victory. Matthew Black got the verdict over Dillon Dowson, Shellan Leeming and James Devereau in the rush for second.

In the combined under 8 and under 10 racing bikes Cian Jackson outsprinted breakaway companions Drystan Sewell and Ivan Sorby for the honours. Tyler Annis won the bunch sprint for fourth ahead of Owen Collins, Cian Howard, Frank Kinnish, Mairi Harrison and Orry Lund.

Clocking up his second success of the night, Ramsey’s Tyler Hannay overcame fellow escapee Zac Walker in the gallop at the end of the under 12 racing bikes. Chasers Matthew Cooil, Thomas Skillicorn and Matthew Black finished third, fourth and fifth, with Jack Christian just behind in sixth position. Kiera Prentice was the first girl in 14th spot.

Eight riders contested the sprint at the end of an action packed u/14 & u/16’s race with a determined Will Draper coming out on top ahead of Conor Davies, Daniel Scarffe, Adam Kelly, Thomas Bostock, Max Walker, Ben Christian and Tosh Teare. The girls’ award went to Tara Ferguson in ninth place.
