Thirty one riders signed on for the second round in the eighteen week league with Ben Wright (Bournemouth Arrow) taking first blood in a four lap youth/women scratch race. Jonathan Carr won a six lap “b†Scratch, the Arrow rider going alone with only two laps ridden.
The following “A†Six lapper was a cagey affair with the usual suspects sizing each other up, Alex Jolliffe (Team Terminator) took this one ahead of Ali Fielding (Poole Wheelers) & Charley Calvert (Bournemouth Arrow), all three will be there or there a bouts come August.
It was Ben Wright again in a nine lap youth/women points race, with Molly Haycock & Lucy Edmunds making it a clean sweep for the Arrow. Chris Courage (Bournemouth Jubilee wh) pipped Becky Raybould (Poole Wheelers) in a fifteen lap “B†points race, Raybould had escaped early and looked good but Courage never gave up taking the final points as Raybould tied up.
In the “A†league version, Harvey McNaughton (I-team cc) triumphed ahead of Harrison Fielding (Bournemouth Jubilee Wh) & Jolliffe. McNaughton impressed, will be a wheel to follow and will challenge Jolliffe, Fielding & Calvert for the overall.
An eight lap block handicap was won by Mercy Webb (VC Venta) beating Tom Day (Poole Wh) and Haycock. Gareth Rose (Bournemouth Arrow) took a B league twelve lap scratch, taking Courage on the line with Carr well beaten. T J Nel (I-team cc) went for a long one in the A League twelve lapper but was never convincing, Jolliffe and the Fielding brothers taking advantage as he tied up far too early, despite encouragement from “dad”.
Molly Haycock took a youth/womens elimination race with Calvert last man standing in the A/B equivalent. A two lap handicap sprint won by Carr allowed some brief respite before the final 32 lap, all-up scratch race. Nel, McNaughton, Jolliffe, Fielding A, Fielding H, Raybould, Calvert & Courage split the race. Further pressure did for Raybould, & Courage and as the light faded Jolliffe bettered Ali Fielding in the sprint.
