There was another large turnout of 314 competitors at the NSC last Tuesday night for round six of Team RL360 Isle of Man’s Youth League.
Report – Isle of Man’s Youth League
In the novices class Joseph Nodwell powered away from the field to notch up his second win of the series. Newcomer Nicole Astell-Burt edged out Joel Prentice, Oliver Schofield and Abigail Cowell for the runners-up spot, with round five winner Liberty Delooze coming in on her own for sixth. Abbie Jones pipped Jack Monaghan for seventh and Erin Morgan was too quick for Abi Cullington and Isla Dickaty in the tussle for ninth. Tyler Oakley-Cowie completed the top twelve.
Brad Le Geyt took the honours in the born 2010 & later category for the fourth week running. Kylan Murphy was a close second and Stanley Kinnish outsprinted Daniel Minay for third. Dylan Bullock held off top girl Lula Kennish in the race for fifth and Archie Mulholland stayed clear of a five-strong chasing group to claim seventh. Hugh Osborn won the gallop for eighth ahead of Harrison Skillan, Conor Madsen-Mygdal, Main Watterson and Oliver Kellett.
In the born 2009 event Eddie Dillon outgunned breakaway companions Jake Jones and Cameron Hounsell in the final rush for the chequered flag. Sean Crone overcame a strong challenge from pursuers Thomas Pickavance and Abi Clayton to grab fourth, with Matthew Hooper leading Zach Jones home for seventh. Jazzy Dillon and Thomas Radcliffe trailed in separately to round off the top ten leader board.
Preserving his 100% record, Alec Sorby was too strong for Myles Le Geyt in the final surge for the line in the born 2008 age group. Freddie Griffin got the better of Fearne Bregazzi and T.J.Teare in the fight for the final place on the podium, while Oliver Cooper outran Joel Long in the dart for sixth. George Kinnish, Edward Field and Bob Radcliffe led the rest of a fragmented bunch to secure eighth, ninth and tenth positions.
Cian Howard edged away from fellow frontrunner Orry Lund to secure maximum points for the sixth time in the born 2007 class. Chasers Charlie Scarffe, Rio Kelly and Florence Griffin nearly got across to the two leaders, but in the end were left to contest the sprint for third place, which Scarffe won. Ed Coole was a lonely sixth and Cory Corkhill consolidated seventh ahead of pursuers Harry Ellis, James Kinrade, Jordan Carter and Ben Davies.
Colby’s Owen Collins beat Ivan Sorby and Drystan Sewell in the charge for the top three slots in the born 2006 race. Nicola Quaye headed Tom Caine, Zachary Dowson and Samuel Devereau in the battle for fourth, with Rebecca Cooil just behind in eighth spot. Jack Christian ousted Harry Callin and first timer Gabriel Cayle in the bunch gallop for ninth.
Tyler Annis continued his winning ways in the born 2005 category, outsprinting Frank Kinnish to raise his tally of victories to three. Oliver Corkish came from behind to snatch third from Mairi Harrison and Ella Griffin.
In the following 2004 & earlier grouping Tyler Hannay went from the gun and time trialled to a clear win. Matthew Black was a solid second and James Devereau headed Shellan Leeming over the line for third. Nathan Slack and Kyle Batty wrapped up the top six.
In the under 10 racing bikes a group of eight riders broke free in the early stages and stayed clear to the finish where Niall Colquitt took the win ahead of Owen Collins and Cian Jackson. Cian Howard the first u/8 rider in fourth place and Mairi Harrison the best girl in 11th place.
The under 12’s race was a lacklustre affair with no one willing to show their hand. At the finish Tyler Hannay got the verdict from Zac Walker and Matthew Cooil, with Kiera Prentice the first girl home in 12th spot.
In sharp contrast, there were plenty of action in the under 16’s event, including a blistering attack from Conor Davies at three quarter distance. In the end, however, it was Thomas Bostock who emerged from the leading pack of eleven riders to score his maiden win of the series. William Draper was second closely followed by Adam Kelly and leading u/14 rider Tosh Teare. The top three girls were Tara Ferguson, Amelia Sharpe and Kaitlin Slack in 13th, 14th and 16th positions.
