Report – Pearl Izumi Tour Series Motherwell
Kristian House (JLT Condor) won round 4 of the Pearl Izumi Tour Series whilst Madison Genesis showed their strength winning best team.
Kristian House (JLT Condor) winner of round 4 in Motherwell
House was part of a three man break that escaped very early on and despite strong chases from various teams, they stayed away and in the closing laps, House broke clear and held off Chris Opie (One Pro Cycling) and Mike Northey (Madison Genesis) to win the race. Only 13 seconds behind them, Steele Von Hoff (NFTO) won the bunch kick for fourth with Ed Clancy (JLT Condor), a sign of what may have happened had Von Hoff’s team NFTO been able to bring back the back.
The battle for the team prize however went to Madison Genesis who won on the night and continue to lead the series.
PHOTO REPORT
No race in Scotland would be right without the sound of the bagpipes
The teams, lined up side by side, leave the start line for a neutral lap of the course before battle commences
Chris Opie (One Pro Cycling) leads Mike Northey (Madison Genesis) and Kristian House (JLT Condor) in a break that was away for 90 per cent of the race.
A few riders tried to jump across the gap, Jonny McEvoy of NFTO being one of them
Stephen Williams of Pedal Heaven was another
Marc Hester of One Pro Cycling.
Jon Mould of One Pro Cycling had several goes at escaping and joining the leaders
One of the first ‘breaks’ with Jon Mould, Mark McNally (Madison Genesis) and Chris Lawless (Team Wiggins).
When they could not jump across to the break it was plan B for NFTO as they went flat stick on the front to try and bring the race back together
Kristian House solo for the last few laps
Victory for House a few seconds ahead of Opie and Northey with the peloton in the same straight
Chris Opie wins the sprint for second
Steele Von Hoff (NFTO) beats Ed Clancy (JLT Condor) to the line in the bunch kick and a sign of what might have been had the race stayed together.
Chris Opie wins the Points on the night
Ed Clancy gets the fastest lap prize.
Team winners were Madison Genesis who continue to lead the series.
