With the Tour of Britain stage 2 finish due in Colne in September there is a buzz about the place that will build and build with Colne Grand prix dished up for starters in July.

JLT Condor are the first of the Pro teams to confirm riders for the Town centre criterium, round 4 of the National Elite series on Wednesday 15th of July. The town council are optimistic locals Steven Burke MBE the London 2012 Olympic champion along with Ian ‘Superman’ Wilkinson will be on the start line too with their respective squads of Team Wiggins and Raleigh Gac.

Cycle Sport Pendle are the club assisting with event delivery and are based at the recently opened 1.1km Steven Burke closed road circuit in the Town and have added youth racing for the first time to the evenings programme. The Marsden Building society sponsor the future starts Grand Prix is at 6.30 followed by the category 2/3 support race sponsored by Fort Vale Engineering at 7.15 and the Welcome Cottages Grand Prix at 8.15

The support race is filling up fast with a maximum 60 riders and there will be a limit of 40 maximum in the youth race and riders are encouraged to enter early.
