Result & Report – Chevin Series Race 5

For the final race in a brilliant series of races promoted by Chevin Cycles, the riders were greeted with foul weather. With winds gusting to 40mph and rain in the air, howling straight down the Start/Finish straight didn’t seem to worry the riders as much as it did the commissaires.

With the riders split into their handicapped groups, the race was on. With a total of 3 minutes and thirty seconds between the 4th cat group and the scratch group, the race was frantic from the start.

In a six lap race, it wasn’t until two to go when the Elites brought all groups together and promptly kicked again and broke up the peloton. First rider to go for a long one was Josh Edmondson (An-Post) only to be followed by Nathan Edmondson (Giordana).

A group of four riders tried to close the gap but made no impact. With the wind easing slightly on the finish straight, the sprint was won by Nathan Edmondson. Series leader Tommy Bustard finished 9th earning enough points to take the series win overall. All riders agreed, the Chevin series is a very organised race series and many were already looking forward to next year.
