Report & Result – Ford CC Go Race

For the fourth race in this year series we had dry sunny conditions with a strong breeze down the long straight on the track. A field of 37 started and settled into a brisk pace. The first prime was after 3 laps; Thomas Shanney of Redbridge CC and Andrew South made a break coming off the hill and stayed clear with Shanney taking the prime.

In the following few laps Rob Young, Martin Ryan & Ryan Savage were involved in several attempts to make a break but could not stay away. Sam Brown took the second prime in a tight sprint with Rob Young.

The break attempts kept coming, before the last prime was taken on 5 laps to go by Sam Brown in a bunch sprint. Doug Rushworth of HCC chipped off the front, largely unnoticed, the last time up the hill, creating a clear gap to the bunch and looked set for victory. However he slowed down before the line and only just held on to take the win from the very fast finishing Sam Brown. Chris Busby led the rest of the bunch over the line taking 3rd place.
